Vitamin Manufacturer Insight Actual vs. Elemental

When comparing quotes from different vitamin manufacturers make sure you are doing an apples to apples comparison. Be on the lookout for the difference between the amount of an ingredient vs the elemental amount of an ingredient. Know the difference and know which you want.

Do you know the difference between 1000 mg of calcium citrate and 1000 mg of elemental calcium (as calcium citrate)?

1000 mg of calcium citrate contains about 20% (200 mg) of elemental calcium. It’s a subtle difference but it has a great deal to do with both the quality and the cost of the product. Ask your vitamin manufacturer the right questions & make sure you get what you want.

If you want 1000 mg of calcium from calcium citrate you will need to have a formulation that contains roughly 5,000 mg of calcium citrate.  i.e. only 20% of the 5,000 mg is actually calcium. Have you ever compared vitamin manufacturer quotes and thought to yourself “how can the price from one be so dramatically than the other”?

The previous example could be the reason why. If vitamin manufacturer A quotes something using 1000 mg of raw material and vitamin manufacturer B quotes something using 5 times that amount (5,000mg) there is going to be a significant difference in the price.

Rest assured that Healthy Solutions is a vitamin manufacturer who will prepare quality formulations at a fair price.
